Conducting research and sharing research results with other scientists is a part of the life of every person involved in academic life. Only when the results obtained from the study reach a widespread audience can a contribution be made to science. Today, scientific articles are the most preferred and most effective option for sharing research results. The articles are also among the most significant indicators to track scientists’ productivity and academic achievement and can also be used to organize the appointment and promotion of academics. Academic progress can only be achieved by creating a successful publication list. Employees in many sectors other than academic life may need to prepare documents or reports with scientific value, even if they do not write articles.

Especially since the last quarter of the twentieth century, English has gained weight in announcing the results of studies carried out in almost every field of science. Today, all researchers choose to publish their articles in English, regardless of their language, when they want the results of their studies to reach many people. It can easily be said that the number of scientists in the world who try to publish in English although their mother tongue is not English is higher than the number of scientists who speak English as their mother tongue. It is also wrong to think that every native English speaker can write academic publications without difficulty. Academic writing is a skill that develops over time. As such, it is important to learn and teach how to write articles in English.

As the creator of the content of this website, I am not a native English speaker. However, I received an outstanding primary English education. Then, at the beginning of my academic life, I had the opportunity to go abroad with a scholarship and do my PhD in a very scientific environment. When I returned to Turkey after my PhD abroad, I found myself guiding many academics around me to write or correct their articles in English. Although it may seem like a burden at first, this situation turned into the idea of sharing my experiences over time and I have accumulated what I have learned over the years. In the beginning, I had the idea of presenting all my knowledge and experience as a book, and this idea continues, but I thought that an Internet page could be helpful both in terms of the number of readers I can reach and ease of use.

The purpose of this site is to inform the reader about the basic principles of scientific publication in the field of health sciences, points to consider during writing, writing an article in sections, and improving an article after the first writing. To make the site more beneficial, information about some basic grammar rules and issues related to correspondence with journals and referees was also included. A good writer is first and foremost a good and critical reader. I believe that this website will be helpful for the readers not only in writing an article, but also in critically reviewing a scientific text.

I tried to use the most up-to-date information in the preparation of the site. However, the English language, like all other languages, is a dynamic structure; it contains many fundamental issues on which there is still no consensus and it can also change over time. There are also significant differences in practice among the many journals that publish articles. In this respect, if you come across information from another source that differs from what is described here, please consider that there may be such a difference before you consider it an error.

This website has been prepared with the experience and knowledge of many years. I hope that the site will be helpful to everyone who visits, especially academics working in the field of health sciences. I hope you will experience the same happiness that I had while preparing the content of this site, while you improve your academic English knowledge and article writing skills.

Sincerely yours,
