Hint

  • Do not use the superscripted number zero or letter o as the degree sign. You can find the degree sign from the Insert/Symbol section in the tabs at the top of the page in Microsoft Word, or you can add it by pressing the Alt+Ctrl+q+space keys on the keyboard simultaneously.

Impact Factor

Impact factor is a numerical value calculated by using the number of articles published in a journal in the previous two years and the number of citations these articles received. High impact value is a clue that shows articles in that journal receive high number of citations. Therefore, in time impact factor became an indicator showing the prestige of a journal. To learn more about the impact factor see Part 1: Basics of Medical Writing.

Hint

  • To decrease your word count, use verb forms of words which have similar noun forms. For example, instead of “A comparison was made between A and B”, use “A and B were compared”.
