Hint

  • When you need to use “a” or “an” before a word, remember that what matters is not whether the first letter of the following word is a vowel/consonant, but what sound the word begins with. For example, “an hour” and “a European-wide, a university, a usual”.

Impact Factor

Impact factor is a numerical value calculated by using the number of articles published in a journal in the previous two years and the number of citations these articles received. High impact value is a clue that shows articles in that journal receive high number of citations. Therefore, in time impact factor became an indicator showing the prestige of a journal. To learn more about the impact factor see Part 1: Basics of Medical Writing.

Hint

  • To decrease your word count, use verb forms of words which have similar noun forms. For example, instead of “A comparison was made between A and B”, use “A and B were compared”.
